An Interview
    Radio drama Scene One

The alarm clock goes off with a piece of unidentified music. The announcer interruptswith the words: "It is nine o'clock, dear listeners… (fades out and blends in with the sounds of a blanket.

(Inner voice): "It is the time to get up". (Same male voice, loud): "Oh, it is a beautiful day out there, very good for getting hired" (Inner voice): "Coffee, coffee, I want some coffee." Sounds of his stumpy footsteps over the wooden floor of his house. Sound of a coffee pot being taken from the cupboard, slightly touching other dishes. Coffee maker slows down with its typical: "khh, khh, khh…" (Inner voice): "Jelena is not here, right, she has gone to an interview as well…what a strange occurrence… and coincidence. (PAUSE while some slightly dramatic music foreshadows an event in the future) The inner voice continues, overlaying the music)"She did not tell me the name of the company. Anyway, my job interview is at ten thirty, and where exactly…hm…(sound of paper being unfolded) let's see…aha, here. Vertigo Design, room 512. Which clock is working well? They are all of for a bit. The one on the computer must be fine. At the same time, I can check my portfolio and maybe include more Illustrator and PhotoShop files because those programs are basic." Sound of his feet blend gradually into the sound of street that is coming from an open window, as he walks in to the studio room. (Inner voice): "I still have enough time to do this" Sound of a computer posting and the sound of electricity hitting the screen, then the Microsoft's greeting sound of Windows opening. Sound of the mouse clicking and CD burner spinning are following. Soon after, computer is shutting down, and the footsteps are leaving the room. Background music gradually blends in and announces the new scene. The door lock clicks, a rushing noise and the footsteps going downwards, and the street noise again. Scene Two (Music fades out from here to- - - - Inner voice -not in real time-as he waits for the bus: "It won't take me to long to get there- - - to here …maybe ten minutes, and then five minutes to climb up and find the room.) Loud noise and a speeding motorcycle. His real voice but not to loud, angrily through the teeth: "Damn farty twoweelers!" Inner voice: "The bus is coming, that's good." The sound of a bus engine slowly emerges through all the sounds of a busy street and becomes dominant. Pneumatic door opens, three footsteps and sound of closing. The street noise is subdued. The driver: "Good morning, how are you"? The man: "Good morning ser, I am well, how are you?" The footsteps towards an empty seat. Music comes back and slides in the background as the man with his inner voice says: "This is my stop, I am getting off here". Sound of the engine slowing and stopping. The hiss from the opening door, and some more footsteps leaving the bus. Beeping sound comes from the signal lights calling pedestrians to cross the street. Inner voice: "I think that Vertigo Design is placed behind that music shop. I am not going to be late. It is fifteen minutes past ten. Good! Footsteps are louder, closing up the Vertigo Design building. Sound of the main door that is opening and closing. Slight echo other people's voices and sharp sounds of hard heals hitting a marble floor. Inner voice: "Elevators must be close…aha, there." His footsteps and music, and no other shoes are heard. An elevator door slides open with a humming sound. Clicking sound of buttons and closing door. The sound from a speaker announcing: "fifth floor". His footsteps are soft now, yet resolute.

The door lock clicks, a rushing noise and the footsteps going downwards, and the street noise again.
